Link and verify your Chocolate card in HeyMax, fix verification errors, and manage replacements, unlinking and account changes.

Written by Max

Before you start, you need: an active Chocolate Finance account, an activated Chocolate Visa debit card, a HeyMax account, and the same email address on both accounts.

Link and verify your card

How do I link my Chocolate card to HeyMax?

You link your Chocolate card from the Cards tab of the HeyMax app, after setting up the card in the Chocolate Finance app.

If you do not have a card yet, in the Chocolate Finance app:

  1. Sign up for a Chocolate Finance account.

  2. Fund your account.

  3. Issue and activate your Chocolate Visa debit card.

Then, in the HeyMax app:

  1. Sign up for a HeyMax account, or log in.

  2. Go to the Cards tab.

  3. Tap Add Cards.

  4. Search for and select Chocolate Card.

  5. Complete Step 1: Link Chocolate card with HeyMax.

  6. Complete Step 2: Verify your card.

What is the S$0.01 charge on my card?

The S$0.01 charge is a temporary charge HeyMax makes to verify your card. It is refunded within 14 days, appearing in your Chocolate account balance.

When do I start earning Max Miles?

You start earning Max Miles once your card is both linked and verified. Miles credit only if your Chocolate Finance and HeyMax accounts use the same email address. From October 2026 you also need to meet Chocolate's balance requirement. See the earn guide for how it works.

If verification fails

What should I check first?

Check your card status and balance in the Chocolate Finance app, then retry verification in HeyMax.

  1. In the Chocolate Finance app, make sure your card is not frozen.

  2. Make sure your card balance is at least S$1.

  3. In the HeyMax app, tap Try again to verify card.

What do the error messages mean?

The messages "Waiting for Visa's response" and "Oops, looks like this card is already linked" are known errors on Visa's side. If the error remains after you retry, raise a Card Linking Support ticket with HeyMax.

Card linking vs account linking

Is card linking the same as account linking?

No, card linking and account linking are separate features. Card linking, covered in this article, is what earns you Max Miles on your Chocolate card spend. Account linking lets you see and manage your Max Miles inside the Chocolate Finance app. To set that up, read Chocolate Finance x HeyMax Account Linking.

Managing your card

I replaced my Chocolate card. How do I keep earning?

To keep earning after a card replacement, unlink the old card and link the new one.

  1. In HeyMax, unlink your old card.

  2. In the Chocolate Finance app, apply for your new card.

  3. In HeyMax, link the new card.

Your S$2,000 monthly cap (the amount that earns at the higher rate each month; see the earn guide) does not reset when you switch cards.

Can I link more than one Chocolate card?

No, you can link one Chocolate card to your HeyMax account. If you unlink your card and link another, your S$2,000 monthly cap does not reset.

Can I link my card to more than one HeyMax account?

No, a Chocolate card can only be linked to one HeyMax account per calendar month. To switch accounts, unlink the card, then link it to the other account in the next calendar month.

What happens if I unlink my card?

When you unlink your card, you stop earning Max Miles from it. Max Miles you have already earned stay in your HeyMax account.

Will transactions I made before linking earn Max Miles?

No, transactions made before you linked your card never earn Max Miles, even after you link. Earning starts from the moment your card is linked and verified.

Who handles issues with the card itself?

Chocolate Finance manages the card itself, including issuance, physical card orders, freezing, PIN and lost or stolen cards. Contact support through the Chocolate Finance app, or see the Chocolate card FAQ.
