Campaign FAQ: Daily Commute to Tokyo Challenge
1. General Information
What is the "Daily Commute to Tokyo" Challenge?
The "Daily Commute to Tokyo" Challenge is a campaign by HeyMax designed to accelerate your journey to Japan. During the campaign period, you can earn 1 Max Mile for every HK$1 (“1-for-1”) spent on eligible public transportation in Hong Kong when using a linked Visa card.
When does the campaign run?
The campaign starts on April 7, 2026, and concludes on June 7, 2026.
Who is eligible to participate?
The campaign is open to all new and existing HeyMax users in Hong Kong who link a valid Visa card to their HeyMax account.
This campaign is exclusively available to holders of Visa cards issued by banks or financial institutions licensed in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
2. Earning Miles
How many miles can I earn?
You will earn 1 Max Mile for every HK$1 spent on eligible transportation fares.
Individual Cap: Each user can earn a maximum of 1,000 Max Miles on spends during the campaign.
The campaign is limited to a total of 1 million Max Miles prize pool and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Top Spender Award: At the conclusion of the Campaign Period (June 7, 2026, 23:59 HKT), the ten (10) eligible users with the highest cumulative expenditure on eligible transportation transactions—calculated from the date and time of successful Visa card linkage—will each be awarded a one-time bonus of 30,000 Max Miles. In the event of a tie in total spending, the user who reached the spending amount first will be ranked higher.
What transportation providers are included?
The "1-for-1" rate applies to Visa "Tap to Pay" payments at:
MTR: All heavy rail lines (excluding Airport Express tickets purchased at counters/kiosks).
Franchised Buses: KMB, Citybus, and Long Win Bus (LWB).
The transaction must be categorized under Merchant Category Codes (MCC) 4111 or 4131 to qualify.
When do I start earning miles?
Earnings are tracked from the moment you link your Visa card within the HeyMax app.
Note: Spending incurred before linking your card or before the campaign start date (April 7) will not be eligible for the HK$1=1 Mile rate.
3. Max Miles Rewards
How do I earn bonus 30,000 Max Miles?
Once you have linked your Visa card, simply continue making eligible payments between April 7 and June 7. Top 10 spenders will receive the bonus reward and winners will be notified via email.
What is the value of 1 Max Mile?
HeyMax keeps it simple: 1 Max Mile = 1 Asia Mile. You can transfer your Max Miles to your Asia Miles account at a 1:1 ratio to redeem flights on Cathay Pacific or other airline & hotel partners.
When will I receive my miles?
Max Miles earned from transportation will be credited to your HeyMax account automatically once the transaction is confirmed by the bank (usually within 3–5 business days). Results for the Top 10 spenders will be announced by June 30, 2026.
4. Referrals
Can I earn more than the 1,000 Max Mile cap?
Yes! The 1,000 mile cap only applies to your transportation spending. You can continue to earn unlimited miles on our existing offers and through our Referral Program:
Refer 1–10 friends: Earn 200 Max Miles per successful referral.
Refer 11+ friends: Earn 500 Max Miles for every referral thereafter.
5. Technical Troubleshooting
I used my Visa card for the MTR today, but I don't see the miles. Why?
Please check the following:
Is your card linked? Ensure the specific Visa card you used is currently "Active" in the HeyMax app.
Transaction Processing: It can take a few days for the transportation provider to settle the payment with your bank. Your miles will appear once the transaction is finalized.
MCC Check: The transaction must be categorized under Merchant Category Codes (MCC) 4111 or 4131 to qualify.
Does this work with Apple Pay or Google Pay?
Yes, as long as the underlying card added to your mobile wallet is the same Visa card linked to your HeyMax account.
Terms & Conditions
1. Program Overview
During the Promotion Period, eligible HeyMax users can earn 1 Max Mile for every HKD 1 spent on eligible public transportation in Hong Kong when using a linked Visa card issued in Hong Kong.
Total Prize Pool: 1,000,000 Max Miles (available on a first-come, first-served basis)
Individual Cap: Each user can earn a maximum of 1,000 Max Miles during the Promotion Period.

2. Promotion Period
The Promotion runs from 7 April 2026 (00:00 HKT) to 7 June 2026 (23:59 HKT), both dates inclusive.
Termination: The campaign will conclude once the total prize pool of 1,000,000 Max Miles is fully utilised or the Promotion Period ends, whichever is earlier, without further notice.
3. Eligibility
The Promotion is open to all new and existing HeyMax users in Hong Kong who:
Hold a valid Visa card issued in Hong Kong; and
Successfully link such Visa card to their HeyMax account.
4. How to Participate
To participate, users must:
a. Create or sign in to a HeyMax account via the HeyMax mobile application;
b. Link and verify a valid Hong Kong-issued Visa card within the HeyMax app; and
c. Make eligible transportation payments using the linked Visa card during the Promotion Period.
5. Eligible Transactions & Merchant Category Codes (MCC)
Eligible transactions are Visa "Tap & Go" payments for public transportation in Hong Kong at the following providers:
MTR: All heavy rail lines, excluding Airport Express tickets purchased at counters/kiosks
KMB (Kowloon Motor Bus)
Citybus
Long Win Bus (LWB)
To qualify, transactions must be correctly categorised under Merchant Category Code (MCC) 4111 or 4131.
6. Earning Mechanics
Eligible users will earn 1 Max Mile for every HKD 1 spent on eligible transportation fares, subject to:
Individual Cap: A maximum of 1,000 Max Miles per user during the Promotion Period.
Total Prize Pool: The campaign is limited to a total of 1,000,000 Max Miles, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Separate Bonus Pool: The 30,000 Max Miles bonus for the top 10 spenders is separate from and not subject to the 1,000,000 Max Miles total prize pool.
7. Earning Start Time
Earnings are tracked from the moment the user successfully links their Visa card within the HeyMax app.
Any spend incurred before the card is linked will not be eligible for the HKD 1 = 1 Max Mile rate.
Any spend incurred before the Promotion Period begins (7 April 2026, 00:00 HKT) will not be eligible.
If a user links their Visa card after 7 April 2026, eligible earning will only begin from the time the card is successfully linked.
8. Bonus Reward – Top 10 Spenders
The top 10 spenders during the Promotion Period will each receive an additional 30,000 Max Miles.
Ranking Criteria:
Ranking is determined by total eligible spending on qualifying transportation transactions during the Promotion Period.
In the event of a tie (two or more users with the same total eligible spend), the user who reached that spending amount first will rank higher.
Notification:
Winners will be notified separately by HeyMax via email.
Results for the top 10 spenders will be announced by 30 June 2026.
9. Crediting of Max Miles
Base Earnings:
Max Miles earned from eligible transportation transactions will be credited automatically to the user's HeyMax account once the transaction is successfully confirmed by the bank, typically within 3 to 5 business days.
Bonus Miles:
The 30,000 Max Miles bonus for top 10 spenders will be credited following notification to winners.
10. Account and Card Rules
Each HeyMax account and unique Visa card may receive the applicable promotion rewards only once.
Users must keep their HeyMax account in good standing and maintain an active linked Visa card throughout the Promotion Period.
The linked Visa card must remain active and linked to the HeyMax account at the time of reward fulfillment.
11. Reward Policy & Account Standing
Nature of Reward: Max Miles are not physical rewards.
Expiration Policy: Max Miles do not expire as long as the user accesses or engages with the HeyMax mobile application at least once every 12 months.
Inactivity Clause: HeyMax reserves the right to remove a user's balance or terminate an account if the user has not accessed the mobile application or website for a consecutive period of 12 months or longer.
Account Status: The user's HeyMax account and linked Visa card must remain active and in good standing at the time of fulfillment.
12. Reversed, Cancelled or Fraudulent Transactions
HeyMax reserves the right to void, reverse, claw back, or withhold any Max Miles awarded if:
A transaction is cancelled, reversed, refunded, or disputed (chargeback);
A transaction is otherwise deemed ineligible; or
Any fraudulent, abusive, or suspicious activity is detected.
Any user found engaging in fraudulent activities, creating multiple accounts under different identities, using fraudulent credit card information, or exploiting system bugs may have their account terminated and all miles forfeited.
13. Right to Determine Eligibility
HeyMax reserves the absolute right to determine whether a transaction qualifies as an eligible transaction under this Promotion.
14. General Conditions
Any person who participates in the "HeyMax Daily Commute to Tokyo Challenge" ("Campaign") will be deemed to have read, understood, accepted and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and any amendments thereto from time to time.
HeyMax reserves the right to amend, suspend, withdraw, or terminate the Promotion and/or these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice, subject to applicable law.
15. Data and Privacy
By participating, users acknowledge that transaction metadata may be shared between HeyMax and its service providers (including payment aggregators and Visa) for the purpose of tracking eligibility, verification, and reward fulfillment.
